A year of great news!

Space with a Soul celebrated its first anniversary on May 4, 2012.

To commemorate this milestone, we are taking a look back on our media coverage over the past year and sharing some of the highlights.

We are mission accelerators! A point clearly stated in a October 2011 post from the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge. The author, Randall Cronk, gave an overview of our model and the benefits it provides for our residents.

“Space with a Soul really does have a soul” – Randall Cronk, MIT Enterprise Forum

In February 2012, our CEO was interviewed by the Boston Business Journal giving them a run down of the work that we do. In the article, Stas compares our space to a transit authority, laying the groundwork for smooth operation.

“[Space with a Soul could be the]…fastest- growing co working space in Boston” – Galen Moore, Boston Business Journal

The Boston Business Journal covered us again during our lease extension and expansion project in February. Mayor Menino, a vocal supporter of our space, said he was excited to see us grow.

“…they have been a great partner in bringing companies to the Innovation District, and a major location for social events” – Mayor Thomas Menino

The growth of our space caught the attention of the Boston Globe resulting in a feature article about our lease extension/expansion. The article featured statements from Boston’s Mayor and our founder, Stas Gayshan.

“Our community is united by a desire to give non-profit organizations the ability to focus their energies on their mission and remove the hassles and distractions of operational overhead” — Stas Gayshan, founder of Space with a Soul

Innovation centers are popping up around town but they don’t always succeed. In an article about this new trend the Boston Globe recognized our successful innovation model as we continue to thrive.

“…[the] innovation center concept [has been] applied successfully downtown [at Space with a Soul] to address environmental, social, and cultural challenges” – Lawrence Harmon, Boston.com

We love seeing our space full of life. In March we hosted Mass Innovation Nights and its co-founder later mentioned us in a blog post about their party.

“When your Space comes ‘with a soul’ it’s hard not to have a good time” – Bobbie Carlton, co-founder, Mass Innovation Nights

In January 2012, Bostinno.com offered readers a look into the Mayors of Boston’s top 11 co working spaces based on their interaction with Foursquare and our resident chocolatiers made the list. Bostinno has also included us in their newest addition of “co working spaces around town that you need to know”.

“Space with a Soul…more like Space With a Sweet Tooth” – Lisa DiCanio, Bostinno.com

At Space with a Soul we strive to make a positive impression in our local community and it’s always rewarding to be acknowledged for our efforts. In December 2011, we were mentioned in a Social Ecosystem blog post about the past year’s 12 most influential companies.

“[these are] wonderful organizations that are making an impact around the world” – Raj Melville, Social Ecosystem

June 30th, 2011

Boston, MA — This morning Space with a Soul, a nonprofit mission accelerator, signed a partnership agreement that promotes innovation-focused collaboration between Boston and Brussels with BetaGroup, a network of Belgian web entrepreneurs.

The agreement encourages knowledge sharing between the two groups. Among those present at the signing were Benoit Cerexhe, Minister of Employment, Economy, Foreign Trade, and Scientific Research for the Brussels-Capital Region and Sam Hammar, a member of the Economic Development staff for the City of Boston.

One of the most valuable benefits of locating at Space with a Soul is the inventive spirit that results from collaboration in the shared space, said Stas Gayshan, founder and CEO of Space with a Soul.

Both Gayshan and BetaGroup CEO Jean Derély look forward to expanding the scope of their collaborative efforts on an international scale.

Partnering with BetaGroup exposes our residents to a wider world of ideas, which in turn will power innovation, Gayshan said.

The mutual mission of BetaGroup and Space with a Soul is to extend the advantages of large enterprises to organizations operating on a smaller scale, including small nonprofits and startup technology organizations.

Space with a Soul offers managed office space to nonprofits and other small organizations in Boston. It minimizes the strain of managing these ventures by offering operational support and a network of skilled service providers. With similar founding principles, BetaGroup offers managed office space and fosters connections among Belgian entrepreneurs, development firms, and investors.

We are excited to welcome BetaGroup to Boston, which has a long history of new ideas and creative thinking, said Gayshan. We look forward to learning as much as possible from them and sharing what we and the city’s Innovation District have to offer.

As a part of the agreement, the two organizations will exchange one week of office space and facilitate valuable introductions to entrepreneurs and investment firms in each city.

By putting out the welcome mat and introducing this delegation to our neighbors, we are opening opportunities in Boston for all of BetaGroup’s network, said Gayshan. We look forward to introducing our network to our new friends in Brussels.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Boston, MA — Space with a Soul, a startup organization serving to improve efficiency of Boston-area nonprofit organizations, is offering free temporary workspace, meeting space, and event space in downtown Boston to nonprofit organizations affected by the recent tornadoes that devastated central and western Massachusetts. With their goal of minimizing operations costs and maximizing energy devoted to mission, Space with a Soul is uniquely position to offer workspace, meeting space, and event space to nonprofit organizations who sustained damage to their places of work.

Affected nonprofits need to continue to operate despite the damage from the tornadoes. In times of crisis, the need for nonprofit services will be increasing despite the shrunken capacity to serve, said Stas Gayshan, founder and CEO of Space with a Soul. By offering space to these groups, Space with a Soul aims to minimize disruption to service provision and facilitate a smoother rebuilding process for nonprofit organizations and the communities they serve.

In addition to workspace, Space with a Soul provides state-of-the-art meeting and event space in Boston’s Innovation District that will be critical for the forward-looking response plans necessary during the expensive process of rebuilding.

Organizations seeking space should contact Stas Gayshan by phone at (617) 744-9336.
